Simple, but difficult.

The Gospel is simple. It can also seem hard.
Our Lord knows it is a burden. But he tells us that unlike all the other burdens we carry, it is light. In Matthew 11:30, Jesus says, "For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

The word translated as "easy" (χρηστός), is more nuanced than that. Other times it gets translated as useful, gentle, pleasant, or kind. It carries the meaning of well-fitted to the purpose. So a yoke that is χρηστός is one that fits and allows the ox to pull without strain or difficulty; it makes the ox's job easier.

But I digress.

What I really wanted to point out is just how simple the life in Christ is.
Some people asked me, "We have wives and are beset with social cares, and how can we lead the solitary life?"

I replied to them, "Do all the good you can; do not speak evil of anyone; do not steal from anyone; do not lie to anyone; do not be arrogant towards anyone; do not hate anyone; be sure you go to church; be compassionate to the needy; do not offend anyone; do not wreck another man’s domestic happiness;
and be content with what your own wives can give you.

"If you behave in this way you will not be far from the Kingdom of Heaven."

Simple. but difficult.

(good) ------ (Christ)
Depending on who you ask these would be pronounced the same, or very close.

So, the yoke of Χριστός is χρηστός!
